Extreme care is taken to ensure every child’s safety at Cwtsh Cynnes, however accidents do happen. All accidents are recorded in our accident book kept on the premises and then signed by parents and staff who were present at the time of accident. Parents/guardians will receive a copy. In the event of illness, accident or emergency we will act on the parents behalf and take such action as we consider appropriate. This may include taking your child from the nursery to seek medical attention. Every effort will be made to contact parents.

We carry out regular fire drills and fire blankets, extinguishers etc are checked professionally once a year. Smoke alarms are fitted and checked daily and there is a fire drill policy in place at the nursery. A daily register is completed of every child attending as well as staff signing in and out book. We have a handover and collection policy which is available for parents and we cannot release any child to any other person other than named unless we are informed to do so and then have a password system in place for this.

We have an open door policy so no appointment needed for a visit. At the first visit parents/guardians will be given all the information they require about the setting along with registration, assessment forms, contracts which need to be completed before the child’s first day. “settling in “sessions are also arranged prior to your child starting where the child comes into the nursery for a 2 hour period morning or afternoon to familiarise them with the staff who will be caring for them and for them to settle into the room and routine, these sessions also help parents get to know the staff and routines as well before leaving your child. These are usually arranged for one or two sessions more if need or want in the 2 weeks leading up to the start dates. There is no charge for these settling in sessions. The same procedure happens when a child moves from room to room.
